Y-polut– Y-Säätiö’s Housing Support for Youth as a Resource for Independence

The goal of the three-year Y-polu – Y-Säätiö’s Housing Support for Youth as a Resource for Independence project was to develop Y-Säätiö’s own youth housing model, ensure the continuity of housing for young adults under the age of 35 living in Y-Säätiö’s housing stock, and prevent youth homelessness.

The project was funded by STEA, and its focus areas were Y-Säätiö’s youth housing locations in Espoo, Kerava, Järvenpää, Tuusula, and Nurmijärvi.

The project aimed to develop services and practices that considered the needs of young people. It particularly focused on resolving issues such as rent arrears and other housing-related disturbances by organizing group activities on the premises and offering multi-channel, individualized guidance for accessing services. The project also enhanced resident engagement and made the existing services provided by Y-Säätiö more easily accessible for young people. The prevention of homelessness was addressed by creating different pathways to housing options and services, adapting to the changing life situations of young adults.
