Women’s Voices – Putting Women’s Visual Voices at the Heart of Homelessness Support

Women’s Voices is a project funded by the European Union Erasmus+ programme to improve the support and services available to women experiencing homelessness. Women experiencing homelessness have particular safety and security needs, which need to be addressed and understood in the development of services.

The project is an international collaboration involving BMSZKI from Hungary, Kings of the Street from Slovenia, Armée du Salut from France, SOMOS from Portugal, South East Technology University from Ireland and FEANTSA, the umbrella organisation for European homelessness organisations, in addition to Y-Säätiö. The project will use the participatory Visual voices photography method and will organise training and workshops both locally and in international cooperation.

The 32-month project will develop training materials on the use of the method. In addition, the aim is to raise awareness of women’s homelessness, actively involving women who have experienced homelessness so that the project outputs reflect their experiences and voices.

The project aims to highlight critical perspectives that contribute to changes in the way services are provided to women experiencing homelessness.
