We build affordable rental apartments and homes for special groups. The energy use of construction and property maintenance is an important starting point that guides our design.
The regional priorities of the Y-Säätiö’s new production are in those places where there is a demand for affordable rental apartments. These areas are especially the capital region and the working area of Tampere. In other growth centers, our construction projects are along good transport connections, close to services.
In 2022, the Y-Säätiö Group built a total of 445 ARA rental apartments in good locations in growth centers. At the end of the year, 668 apartments were under construction. By 2030, we aim to build or acquire more than 5,000 new apartments. This is implemented through new construction and the purchase of apartments. In new construction, the Y-Säätiö Group’s goal is to develop ecological construction processes and introduce renewable energy. All new properties built by M2-Kodit, which is wholly owned by Y-Säätiö, are ARA properties, which means they were built with state support and their rents are regulated. The foundation also finances its housing production with interest subsidies and bonds as well as with its own funding. Resident selection is guided by consideration of need. Apartments are rented based on need.
