Housing

We are Finland’s largest national non-profit landlord and a leader in the effort to ending homelessness. Our apartments are Y-Homes for special groups and affordable M2-Homes.

Y-Homes – Apartments directly from Y-Säätiö or our partners

There are over 7,500 Y-Homes rental apartments across Finland. Y-Homes are primarily intended for people who face difficulties in securing housing. This includes people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Residents may also include individuals with intellectual disabilities, people recovering from mental health or substance abuse issues, recently released prisoners, and young people in need of housing support.

Y-Homes apartments are mostly studios or small one-bedroom units. The majority of these apartments are leased to municipalities or other partner organisations. Applications for Y-Homes are submitted directly to our partners.

Apartments directly from our partners

Y-Säätiö rents out a limited number of apartments directly, mainly in the capital region. Most of these homes are allocated to applicants referred by our partner organisations. There is no fixed waiting list — apartments are offered to those with the greatest need.

Our partners are responsible for selecting residents and providing support throughout the rental period. Our housing partners include: Edistia, Helsingin kaupunki, Kriminaalihuollon tukisäätiö, Monika-Naiset Liitto ry, Sininauhasäätiö, Vantaan A-kilta, Vantaan kaupunki and VVA ry.

If a suitable apartment becomes available at the right time, the application process can move quickly. However, due to high demand, we unfortunately can not guarantee a home for every applicant.

M2-Kodit – Affordable housing for everyone

M2-Kodit is a public benefit corporation owned entirely by Y-Säätiö. M2-Kodit has over 11 600 rental apartments across Finland. Apartments are allocated based on need, with priority given to the applicant’s housing situation and the urgency of their circumstances. We offer rental homes that our residents can afford.
