Recycling Event Attracted a Large Crowd of Shoppers 29.1.2025News M2-Kodit, owned by Y-Säätiö, organized a circular economy pop-up sale in Martinlaakso, Vantaa, on January 10, 2025. The event drew more than a hundred enthusiastic recycling advocates. The event took place at the Raappavuorenrinne property and showcased a variety of well-preserved household items, including mirror cabinets, fridge-freezers, balcony drying racks, and faucets. These items were snapped up quickly by buyers, thanks to their budget-friendly prices ranging from 2 to 20 euros. The purpose of the event was to promote the circular economy and reduce demolition waste, as the four apartment buildings at Raappavuorenrinne 2 are set to be demolished to make way for new, more efficient residential construction. Through the pop-up sale, the goal was to give the well-preserved items a new life and reduce environmental impact. Participants praised the event’s atmosphere and the opportunity to acquire practical items at low prices. The recycling sale also marked the start of the renewal process for the Raappavuorenrinne properties, with demolition work scheduled to begin in January 2025. The redevelopment aims to provide high-quality rental apartments and create a more functional living environment in the area. Although the circular economy pop-up sale attracted many eager recyclers, the property has also experienced instances of vandalism. As a precaution, surveillance in the area has been increased, particularly during nighttime hours, to ensure safety before demolition begins. Y-Säätiö and M2-Kodit warmly thank everyone who participated in the event for their active involvement. They also invite everyone to future events where circular economy and community spirit remain at the heart of the activities.
